Our dynamic between tutors and students is based on collaboration and student accountability. We encourage agency and place responsibility for learning on the shoulders of the student. As they do the heavy lifting, we are a reliable spotter, facilitating their understanding of what they know as well as what confuses them. Once they begin to use the tools they have to attack the foundational challenges, confidence starts to build. And as they continue to learn how to learn, positive outcomes will result!
Online Tutoring
We offer tutoring across all required subject areas and for many electives to help students succeed academically and emotionally. A Lone Highway tutors are specialized, qualified, and passionate about the subjects they teach. Our emphasis on positive relationships allows our teachers to have a mentoring role in their students’ lives, resulting in not only academic, but social and emotional growth as well.

One-On-One Tutoring
A Lone Highway tutors have extensive experience providing one-on-one instruction, with a strong concentration in math. We also offer SAT, ACT, HSPT, and ISEE Test Prep. In addition, our tutors can provide academic coaching and help your child learn crucial organizational strategies and study skills that support performance in all areas.
We thrive on our uniquely customized approach to private tutoring. We realize that tutoring is not a cookie-cutter process, thus we customize our policy based on the individual needs of the students.

Group Sessions
The primary advantage of our 2-4 member group tutoring is the opportunity to share a variety of views and information. Groups also demonstrate cooperative attitudes and work skills. In a group setting, we can establish the characteristics of positive interdependence, individual accountability, shared leadership, and interpersonal and small group skills, with an emphasis on task and group processing. Small groups provide opportunity for students to think out loud and share insights about their knowledge without feeling drowned out by a regular classroom setting. After all, the time for students to find their opportunities for growth is before a test or examination, not during it!

Why A Lone Highway Education?
The A Lone Highway Education methodology includes: consistent communication to identify your strengths, needs, and goals; progress monitoring on goal accomplishment; and individualized action plans in between sessions.
The name comes from the poem “Bridge Builder” by Ms. W. A. Dromgoole. A man who crosses a stream turns around to build a bridge for youth who will eventually pass. A Lone Highway Tutoring will help students of all ages discover their path to success.
